A problem with the UFC
I need to start off this post by saying that I very much enjoy watching the UFC. I have been an avid fan for a couple years now. I enjoy watching two artists of human combat employ strategies. I love the different personalities of the fighters and how that plays into the fight itself and the mood leading up the the event. Finally, I have a huge amount of respect for the level of mental and physical devotion it requires to excel in the UFC. The devotion it takes to be a champion in the UFC is on a completely different level from any other sport. All that being said, it still has one major problem.
Like anything else, the UFCs fan-base is made up of all kinds of people. But if you walk into a Buffalo Wild Wings anywhere across the country you will notice a large amount of one thing, douchebags. There is a negative stereotype that this is what all UFC fans look like. Dizzy t-shirt wearing, puffy beach muscle bound idiots. The type of guys that yell “BRO” “DUDE” and “FUCK HIM UP”
When people learn that I’m a UFC fan they are sometimes surprised. I do not fit into the above demo of young men. If you have never been interested in the UFC or MMA I encourage you to give it a look. If you have observed only a certain type of fan that has turned you off to it - just know its a very diverse community. If you love endurance sports, mental battles of great minds, or honestly if you just like the violence - the MMA world has all that and more to offer. Just my opinion.
